Introduce yourself:

Hello! My name is Arben Gutierrez-Bujari. I am a 21-year-old Mexican Albanian student pursuing a business management economics degree from UC Santa Cruz. After graduation, I am looking into potential staying another year for a masters. In regards to my career, while I deeply enjoy finance and spend a large amount of my time studying it, I believe it is important to spend these younger years exploring and trying your hand at a wide range of interests. I also have a sense that my desire to lead and create will take me to a more diverse destination that some finance job. These are the years to try, to fail, to learn, and to adapt.

How do you define success?

To me, success is a fluid concept. It has no true form or definition. However, my successes have often revealed themselves through defined paths of hard work, mental clarity, strong, meaningful relationships, realistic self-awareness, and the ability to progress. To fight against the unknown and live with honor is a form of constant success itself.

What are your goals/dreams and where do you see yourself in 5 years?

My goals include funding, organizing, and negotiating the construction and upkeep of health centers and hospitals in impoverished areas of the world. I plan to explore and build upon my deepest interests and passions to lead an interesting life. I hope to elevate my capital and societal contribution to gain the access needed to shift resources and energy towards helping those both in immediate or long term need.

What motivates you?

The existence of so many beautiful and marvelous corners in life and the human experience.

What is something that you do (a habit or daily practice) that you believe helps you achieve your goals or be productive?

Some of the best practices include properly valuing my own time, being grateful and content with life while simultaneously pursuing more, and creating personal energy. To elaborate on the latter, during the time in which we are alive, we can draw this excitement and energy from within ourselves, and I believe it to be an essential skill that can be practiced and improved.

Who is your inspiration and why?

Richard Branson is one of my inspirations as he has utilized business and wealth to continually strive for a better world and makes it a priority to properly support “his own.” Aside from an individual inspiration like Richard, I am deeply inspired by people who dare to step up and try, by people who don’t give up, and by people who make the world a more exciting place to live.

Life motto or favorite quote?

Rather than a general life motto or quote, I have a personal defining sentence that sums my existence, “I am filthy about progression.”

Anything else you want to share? Perhaps a project you’re currently working on or something valuable that you learned from an experience?

I would like to remind you that this is your time. Whatever project you want to try, whatever dream you have, whatever obstacle is in your way, whatever calls your heart, or whatever you want to accomplish in your existence, now is the time to do it. Don’t ever let anyone tell you this is not your time. It is 100%, undoubtedly your time. Show us what you’ve got. Create your mark on the world, and don’t forget to positively impact others when you can, no matter how small or large of an act.
